How I work: Mostly on paper, usually starting that way then scanned into Procreate or Photoshop for tweaks and finishing.

Current thinking: Really digging into my pencil work. I like the line quality and seeing how specific I can be with the character, the look, the emotion. I am evolving my visual language bringing warmth and honesty to my storytelling.

Up and Coming: Working on two picture books as author illustrator for Big Picture Press. Also developing visuals for editorial that are attention grabbing and playful.

Graphite pencil drawing with two characters in the foreground and two in the distance. A dog is walking centre bottom. Cecily Salt uses a cartoon style to describe the characters whilst simple in line, actually feels quite realistic and relatable. The street is sketched in the background and is based on North Street, Ashburton

Graphite pencil drawing with clean line, showing a man in Reebok trainers crouched fixing some wires. The hand written text word reads wednesday in a curly style, and it is this he is untangling. Cecily Salt has placed the linework onto a salmon coloured background, picking out a few areas in white.

Handdrawn line brings a human touch to editorial.
